As a believer you were super imposed with power so you could live accordingly, change your life, give glory to God and help lead others into this glorious light.

When it comes to addiction most people do not comprehend that cigarette smoking is a physical habit and that habit also has chemical and spiritual factors. The fact is The Paper Pipe called cigarettes are free based just like Crack Cocaine.  

Tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of disease, disability, and death in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), cigarette smoking results in more than 443,000 premature deaths in the United States each year—about 1 in every 5 U.S. deaths—and an additional 8.6 million people suffer with a serious illness caused by smoking. Thus, for every one person who dies from smoking, 20 more suffer from at least one serious tobacco-related illness.

The harmful effects of smoking extend far beyond the smoker. Exposure to secondhand smoke can cause serious diseases and death. Each year, an estimated 126 million Americans are regularly exposed to secondhand smoke and almost 50 thousand nonsmokers die from diseases caused by secondhand smoke exposure.

Strong Holds

Most Christians are unaware of the power that resides within them. When that power is misused it oftentimes moves into an arena of self which is self-defeating, dangerous, and deadly.

A stronghold suggests a fortified defensive structure. It relates to something that is familiar, chronic, and that resist with intelligence.

It's something that is woven into the fabric of life. It is so much a part of life that people who want to quit often fail. It takes more than will power because, for many, it becomes a way to cope or deal with stressors. 

In other words people often have faith in things that have the power to kill them and also those around them. This is called Spiritual Prostitution because it is dependence upon something that takes the place of God.  Dependence upon anything other than God to cope is wrong.

The Solution

Trying to give up smoking is a radical and life changing event.  If you're ready to turn to Scripture for help, you may wonder where to start. 

The first thing you MUST do is COUNT THE COST.

The Bible says in Luke 14:28 (KJV) For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

In other words sit down in meditation and think about how difficult it has been to quit. Think about your failures in the past when you have made attempts to leave nicotine alone.

Realize that what you're about to do is going to take a TLC.

TOTAL LIFE CHANGE. Ask yourself if you are ready to go to any length for victory in Jesus Christ.

Prayer

You already know you can't do it on your own. Matthew 26:41 says, "Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak"

If you believe in God and in prayer, then you should believe that God will give you the strength to end your bad habit. Prayer is a way of communicating with God, letting him know how you feel and what your needs are, and asking for his help. You can talk to God about anything. Most people who believe in God believe in the scriptures and believe God's promises that he will get you through whatever tribulation you are dealing with.

John 14:13 is one of these promises. It states that "whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son." Chapter 14 goes on to state that, "If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it." This is a promise you can include in your prayer. Cling to it and believe it. If you ask God to help you stop smoking and you believe it, he will give you the strength.  Develop a prayer life that will help you in the times that you are tempted.

Renew your thinking

Realize your body is not your own. If you are a believer, you belong to God. It is also important to realize that addiction affects your thinking. Romans 12:1-2 says, "Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect".

To renew your mind, turn to God's word daily. Make it your new habit. Find a bible and start to read scriptures from a different perspective.  That Perspective is POWER!!!

Stop Serving Two Masters

Joshua 24:14- Joshua stated "15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

What Joshua is saying is this. If serving The Lord is a burdensome, loathsome, and unpleasant duty. If you have found another master which is more pleasant and profitable to you then MAKE A CHOICE!!!

Matthew 6:24- Jesus said , "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." Mammon is the demon of greed, more, and lust. Jesus understood making a decision and sticking with it.

It's time to stop playing brother Laydown and make a stand for Jesus Christ.   It's time to submit to God and resist the devil.  You can't have high life living with low life. You can't have balance with this world and expect to receive the fullness of power from God's Holy Spirit.  It's time to operate in the fullness and stop justifying and minimizing the power of God.

Listen I see mighty men and women of God take the path of least resistance and smoke cigarettes for decades not realizing they are destroying their temple.  I see them give value to the paper pipe but none to the Word of God.

I truly believe Jesus would be astounded and I can hear Him ask "why do you call me Lord and not do the thing I say? 

In other words why do you call yourself by my name and not operate in the power that is promised to ALL believers? 

Don't you know that He has given you power over all demons, including the demon of addiction?

Yes addiction is a demon. 

If that doesn't make you incensed then I'm afraid that you've already made a choice.

Lastly it's time to become a disciple and not just a professed believer. It's time for discipline.

Self-control

One of the fruits of the Spirit is self-control (Gal. 5:22-23). Other fruits of the spirit include love, peace, patience, kindness and goodness. Ponder these things. Their opposites are often the reason people reach for a cigarette.

Ask God to fill you with his Spirit and through his power he will cultivate new fruit in your life.  Remember you are not alone in this. "You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:13). Surrender your will to him and he can change you from the inside out.

In closing if you follow these instructions then you will be able to put down that paper pipe and never pick up that poisonous and toxic nicotine again. 

Simple but not easy. Jesus has already paid the price.

All you've got to do is believe and step out in faith (action).

A wise man once said pain is the touchstone of spiritual growth.

That means Pain is necessary, But Suffering is optional.

You see suffering is living in the past, avoiding the future, and neglecting the now.

Most people don't grow up because they are afraid to face and be rid of the suffering and pain that's blocking them from the touchstone.

The touchstone is the path to progress.  That’s the pain to move to the next level.

It is said we practice spiritual progress rather than spiritual perfection.

Right there those who fear pain stop. They minimize and justify and use progress as an excuse for failure.

The word progress means to move forward in growth and development towards a goal.

Progress like a seed planted is sure and like an arrow in a bow true.

Progress is reality.

Progress is maturity.

Perfection in a mature man is simply giving your very best. 

Progress like success is intent and deliberate.

Progress is like the kind of faith that says nothing happens by coincidence.

Listen, if it is to be it is up to me.

You see the word touchstone means - A standard or by which something is judged or recognized.

Have you ever met a man that you know had something special, something great?

Tell me by what standard or criteria were you judging his greatness by?

It should have been by his courage to face his own fears, walk through and then reach out to teach it to others. 

You see cowards and failures are those who cannot or will not face their own fear, walk through their own pain and come out on the other side.

Greatness is not being afraid of failure rather greatness comes out of failure.

Henry Ford failed and went broke five times before he finally succeeded. He's quoted as saying - experience is the thing of supreme value in life.

But in order to have your experience work for you. You've got to go through the pain so you can see the touchstone.

You see winners do what loser can't do or won't do.

A loser won't ever do inventory on his own character, but a winner will do inventory every night along with amends, prayer and meditation and then reading and studying. 

For the winner, Failure is not an option but part of the progress.

Babe Ruth considered by sports historians to be the greatest athlete of all time and once famous for setting the home run record, also holds the record for strikeouts.

Louis Pasteur was only a mediocre pupil in his undergraduate studies and ranked 15 out of 22 in chemistry studies but he went on to invent penicillin.

Listen most listening to my voice or reading this message have had complete failure in life.  The word normal should be eradicated from your vocabulary.

If you are to be successful there must be a revolutionary outlook in the way you view life.  There must be a change in your approach.  Life must take on new meaning.  Let me explain.

Many want change but refuse to change their belief system.

Listen Einstein said the same level of thinking that created the problem cannot be the same thought process or belief system that creates the solution. 

There is only one that can truly change your mind and belief and that one is God…

There is one who has all Power.  THAT...ONE...IS...GOD…

Listen we've talked about fear.

We've talked about pain.

We've talked about progress.

We've talked about being successful in every area of our lives, but there can be no success without GOD.

Check it out; if I can’t change my mind, or my belief system without God, then I've got to learn to accept Gods’ will for my life.  It is only then that my belief system will change.

If I change my belief system…..Then I change the way I think.

If I change the way I think, then I change the actions I take.

If I change the actions I take, then I change my character.

If I change my character, then I change my circumstances.

If I change my circumstances, then I change my destiny.

When my destiny changes, I begin to tap into Gods’ Purpose, Pattern, and Plan for my life.  To put it as plan as possible, I begin to operate in Gods’ will for my life. In this state, all sort of remarkable things begin to happen.

I must learn to accept Gods’ will No matter how I feel.

Repeat it after me.

I must accept Gods’ will No matter how I feel.

Believing in God is not feeling.

Believing in God is a fact.

Let me Illustrate;

The planet Earth is rotating at 1, 37.3 miles per hour on a 23 degree global axis for equal sunlight distribution without deviation or failure.

The Earth is so perfectly situated at 92.96 million miles from the Sun that if it was 5 degrees closer it would be an uninhabitable Tropical Jungle, and if it was 20 degrees farther it would be an uninhabitable Arctic Iceland. 

Can you say precise, intent, and deliberate.

That means God is on the throne and He is in complete control.

You might say but why do I have to believe in God to produce this change?

Listen most people only go to God when they are in a bind, when they are up against the wall. 

This would be like a man who is sick in His body. He goes to the Dr. who tells him his specific problem. He then gives him medication and tells him to eat fruit and vegetables daily, which he does, BUT he smokes a pack of cigarettes a day alone with this regiment.

This is how most people approach God. They know they need spiritual help.

They may say a few prayers when in need, but that's it.

After that it’s business as usual. 

They are always looking to the heavens wondering where God fits in all of IT.

Listen up, if you are having issues in life that won't move, Whether relational, financial, spiritual or physical, YOU must realize that you need to stop living in Self Will.  You must come to believe that you are the common denominator with your problem.

Get out of your thinking.  Get into the Mind of God.

Listen, God will not give His power to a person who has not shown himself worthy of it. He is not obligated to bless you if your house is not in order.  You must clean the House to your heart.  God will not give you the Power until your HEART changes.  

Your heart will show through in your actions and behaviors, but also your mouth will begin to speak and believe in God’s word because now you have a heart for Him.

It is with the mind that you believe, but it through your mouth that your heart speaks.

Listen, Your physical heart is the vital organ that pumps your life's blood throughout your body.

Your spiritual heart does the same. It is the center of your being apart from your self that allows for God to manifest Himself within you.

This is your Spirit. It is your HEART. This spirit is God. We all have one Spirit and that is where God dwells.

The Word of God is the only thing that gives instruction on how to heal, develop, and strengthen your Spirit Man.  For us at this moment, the Big Book of Alcoholic Anonymous is God's Word.

Listen, if your heart has been broken God has a solution.  A broken heart is when your spirit has been attacked by life issues.  I’m talking about Alcoholism, addictions, Death, Divorce, Molestation, Racism, Mental Illness, Illiteracy, Poverty and all those things that cause us to falter, fall, and self destruct.

These all take away from the Spirit and cause fear and with fear the faith has to remove itself.

The word of God renews my mind to tell it in spite of my circumstances to trust God for We walk by faith and not by sight.

The word convicts you when you're out of alignment with God so you don't receive His consequences.

The Word increases Faith because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

The word decreases my selfish nature so that God can increase inside of me.

The word shows me Gods purpose pattern and plan so I can run this race of life with Him and Be still and know that He is. 

Through the word I learn what God's Will is for my life,and that way I can be healed.

(4) And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: (5) That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

(6)Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: (7)But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: (8)Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

Verse 16 give us a clue as to what defines “true” spirituality.  I am writing this lesson because throughout my travels I hear people say “I’m not talking about God, I’m not talking about Faith, I’m not talking about religion, I’m talking about SPIRITUALITY.  

Through scripture I would like to answer this NEW AGE old question.  It’s amazing how most people concept rules out CHRISTIANITY AS THE SOURCE OF SPIRITUALITY but let’s look at it from a more practical standpoint.

On the world scene celebrities often flock to “Certain Eastern Religion” which makes claims of spirituality.  One of those recent converts is Mega Billionaire Oprah Winfrey who recently denied Jesus Christ on air, and as a result began to lose a core group of supporters who were Christians.  This loss resulted in major financial losses for her and she recently changed her stance without apology to this statement.

"I am not talking about religion," she emphasized. “I am a Christian. That is my faith. I'm not asking you to be a Christian. If you want to be one I can show you how.  But it is not required. I have respect for all faiths.  But what I'm talking about is not faith or religion. I'm talking about spirituality." She added, "

My definition [of spirituality] is living your life with an open heart, through love... allowing yourself to align with the values of tolerance, acceptance, of harmony, of cooperation and reverence for life.  "There is a force energy consciousness divine thread, I believe, that connects spiritually to all of us, to something greater than ourselves.

                                              Being gay is a gift?

Many applauded her new stance but if we invoke the Holy Spirit and breath upon the Holy Scriptures we may see a truth beyond what was said.

1.She claims to be a Christian. What does the bible states is a Christian.  The bible/Jesus states in John 8:31 – “ Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed”

1A. This suggest that a Christian is one who has been discipline in the ways, words, teaching and lifestyle of Jesus.  The teaching of Jesus is that He is the only way to get to God. In John 14:6 – He states “I Am the way, the truth, and the light, No man can come through the Father except through me.”

 How is this relevant to obtaining spirituality?  In John 4:24 – The bible says “God is Spirit; and they that worship Him must worship in Spirit and in Truth.  It becomes clear that any connection to “divine” consciousness” or A Power greater than oneself must start and finish with God the father.  

She also said “That is my faith”.  The bible says “Faith without works is dead.  How can I be a Christian and have faith in Christ and not have works in what He said I MUST DO?  Sounds like CONFUSION and we all know that CONFUSION is not of God, but the devil.

2.She states “I have respect for all faiths.”  I find this INCLUSIVISM to be particular disturbing as certain Satanist and Luciferians have faith and I take no fellowship with them.  The bible which we as Disciples of Christ follow as our (Basic*Instruction*Before*Leaving*Earth) Manual and guide to live states a completely new idea.    

The bible reads in  2 John 1:10-11 - If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works.  This teaching is the Christian teaching.

3.She makes the statement, if you want to be a Christian I can show you how, but that it not required.  This is a sharp contradiction to “THE GREAT COMMANDMENT” in Matthew 28: 18 – 20 which reads, “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.  

What an amazing contradiction to the attempt to obtain oneness with all people of all faith and be under the guise of a power which binds us all together.  

Makes you wonder where she is really coming from and what her agenda really is.  I means how can she be a Christian when she denied Christ before millions and then claims Him again but does not apologies to going off the path in front of millions in direct disobedience to the one she claim to be following but has respect for all "religions".   Here is the actually video of her denial before millions:

4.I’m not talking about faith or religion.  Then why did she mention that “"There is a force energy consciousness divine thread, I believe, that connects spiritually to all of us, to something greater than ourselves”.  The word Force in the Greek means – Power.  Ability.  Or Influence.  What FORCE is she speaking of that has the power, ability to influence all people.  When you say spirituality do you know what you are saying?

  So now we can see that Oprah Winfrey and many like her who outwardly claim Christianity are really saying that they are seeking to bind mankind together under a human force, or power which will unify us all and give us the ability to respect all faith no matter what, and also be ok with being a hypocrite and claim Christianity at the same time.  If it’s not about God, Faith, or Religion then what must it be about?  The bible says, “And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand (Mark 3:25). 

 Let me see so you’re saying and I quote “Spirituality is living your life with an open heart, through love... allowing yourself to align with the values of tolerance, acceptance, of harmony, of cooperation and reverence for life.”  

So from this Chapter we can assume that Oprah is against ABORTION, HOMOSEXUALITY right?  WRONG!!!!

In a recent Interview with Peirs Morgan Oprah states “And when I  went to live with my father, things only got worse when he (her father) told her, “I would rather see a daughter of mine floating down the Cumberland River than to bring shame on this family and the indecency of an illegitimate child.” 

She then “hid the pregnancy until her swollen ankles and belly gave her away.” A few weeks later, the baby died in the hospital. Another shocking revelation was that Oprah said she “had no connection..." to the baby and viewed the death as a blessing in disguise. “When the baby died, I knew that it was my second chance.”    See interview at:

 So Oprah’s spirituality would allow her to wish death upon the child of her own womb and when the child finally died, she was grateful and thought of it a blessing.   That is a far cry from the so called reverence for life movement she has aligned herself with.

5.Something greater than ourselves.   As a Christian I know that God and God alone is greater.  There is only one Power active in the Universe and that Power is God.  All else are a result of God and all darkness is the misuse/evil working of His ways, will and word.    

Acts 4:12 states “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved”, saving the name of Jesus.   What Power could Oprah or anyone else be talking about that exist outside of Gods’?  Of what is she really thinking?  Could this be a concerted effort to lure men and women away from Christ?  The KEY SCRIPTURE for this lesson definitely shows us what true spirit-uality really is.

 In 1 Cor. 2:12-13, God clearly states that spirituality comes from the Holy Spirit which lives within us. Verse 12  reads, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God”.  Verse 13 “Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual”.

The reason we receive spirituality is so we may know the things that God would have us know.  My people know that I am not Judging Oprah Winfrey as I am told by the bible, “Those who sin are to be rebuked publicly, so that the others may take warning”. (1 Timothy 5:20).   

Oprah Winfrey is the most powerful women in the world who claims to be a Christian after denying Jesus and leading million astray with hew now New Age Spiritual Class and her New Age Church T.V Program is in need of stern rebuke and prayer.

Is Speaking Gods’ Truth Judging Others?

Identifying sin and scriptural error is not judging or being judgmental. Sometimes when Christians address sin such as non-scriptural divorce and homosexuality they are accused of being non-loving and judgmental. Such statements are only used by those that are unstable, scripturally ignorant, rebellious, deceived, or those living in sin.

To judge means to render a decision, form an opinion, and make a determination based on knowledge. People make decisions and determinations every day. They judge what they will wear, say, and do, for example. They are cautious when first meeting strangers and know from experience not everyone is trustworthy. To throw caution to the wind is not wise. Let’s review a few scriptures regarding judgment.

TRY THE SPIRITS

The Apostle John taught to try the spirits. “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try      ( Judge,Test)the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1)

There is the Holy Spirit, human spirits, and demonic spirits. Spirits are judged according to what they say and how they act. Our measurement for truth is the written Word of God, the bible. According to the Thayer Greek Lexicon “try” is the Greek word dokimazō meaning:

1.) To test, examine, prove, and scrutinize.

2.) To see whether a thing is genuine or not.

3.) To recognize as genuine after examination, to approve, deem worthy.

To ignore, condone, and justify sin and sinful behavior is not biblical. To expect a Christian to overlook sin because “God will judge” is wrong. Your leader has the responsibility to feed the sheep and protect the flock from wolves, dogs, goats, foxes, false prophets, evil workers, and the deceived. (Matthew 7:15; Acts 20:29; Philippians 3:2; Matthew 25:32; 2 Timothy 4:14)

KNOW THEM BY THEIR FRUITS

Jesus taught us to know people by their fruits.  “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?  

Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit; neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.  

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” (Matthew 7:15-23).

According to Jesus the only way to know what’s inside a person is to know them by their fruits. In other words to know a person requires looking at the fruit of their actions and life. Some trees bear fruit quickly others take more time. The only way to know a person is through fruit inspection. Again, this requires sound scriptural judgment and examination.

 Jesus used the word “beware” meaning to use extreme caution because some are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Wolves devour sheep. To protect you Christ taught to look for righteous fruit because “a good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.” For someone, anyone, to tell you not to judge protects wolves and puts you in extreme danger.

In closing I hear a lot of people in the 12 Step Recovery programs who claim Christianity talk about a “Power Greater Than Themselves” without identifying that power.  Remember there is the Holy Spirit, Human Spirit, and Demonic Spirit.  You might want to stop being a “Puppet, Parrot, and Pigeon and chose today whom you will serve.

 I also would like to add that many people speak of God and state that “THEY CHOSE TO CALL HIM GOD, OR CHOSE TO WORSHIP GOD.  

The bible say in John 15:16, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you”.  

Amazing how clear thing become when we just submit to the word of God and not the things of this world.  Study to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  Stop relying on celebrities whose motivation are not from God but obvious those of MONEY & SELF.
